Catholic Diocese of Jasikan

Our History

A journey of faith, mission and service.

A Story of Faith and People

The history of the Catholic Diocese of Jasikan is a story of missionary dedication, enduring faith and the commitment of generations of clergy, religious and lay faithful. From the establishment of the first mission station at Teteman in 1905, through the pioneering work of missionaries and voluntary catechists, the Catholic faith gradually took root and spread across the communities that now form the Diocese.

On 19 December 1994, Pope John Paul II erected the Diocese of Jasikan from the then Diocese of Keta-Ho. Its establishment marked a new chapter in the Church’s mission of evangelization, pastoral care and service to the people of the area.
